Thrifty Garage Sale Finds

~ Happy Monday! ~

I am allowed to say that since it's summer, right? ;-)

This past Saturday, I finally got the chance to go garage sale-ing again!

Mr W was home on Saturday morning, so he was able to stay with the little guy while I got up and out, bright and early!

I tell you what...I really miss the thrill of the hunt! I had a GREAT time, and, I hit the JACKPOT baby!

Lots of fun stuff, so here we go...

I got this sweet little antique piece for the top of my stairs. I believe that it's English, but I'm not positive. The woman was asking $75, but I was able to talk her down to $50. I have been looking for something like this to put at the top of my stairs for YEARS now, so I am really happy with this!
It needs a bit of TLC, possibly even a re-finishing, but for now it will stay as is, since I have so many other projects in the works.

I just love the detail, and the hardware on it!

I also found a pretty silver urn with handles for only $2, and a piece of ironstone for $5. It's missing it's lid, but that doesn't bother me at all! I love the shape and the pretty the handles!

I also found a very unusual frame, with a signed floral oil painting. I am NOT crazy about the painting, so I have other plans for the frame.

Seriously!!?? Is this not SO cool? I love that patina! The lady had $35 on it, but I only paid $24! :-)

Again, wait and see what I do with the frame! I will post about it later this week!
I may donate the painting to one of my friends, if anyone wants it.

I also found this old wine bottle with some of it's original label still intact. I think I paid $3 for it.
I love the bottle, and the graphics on the label as well.

I also picked up a vintage scrabble game, strictly for the tiles. I got it for $1, and I have no idea what I am going to make with them, but I am loving anything with numbers or letters right now so, we'll see...

I had such a great time out on my scavenger hunt this week!! Stay tuned to see what I do with that frame, and I've already made a couple little changes to the antique dresser at the top of the stairs, so I will be posting about that later this week also.

Hope you have a fantastic week ahead!
Thanks so much for stopping by!

    1. I think it just goes in spurts? Sometimes I'll go for a long while and find nothing great, and then all of the sudden, I score!

I'll be keeping up with you too!

  6. Wow! You got so many cool items! I love the ironstone--who cares there is no lid--it is awesome. Can't wait to see what you do with all of your find. I'm intrigued by the Scrabble game. I'm soooo not creative in that area.

    1. Thanks Linda! I know, I love that ironstone, and I have plenty others with lids so it does not matter to me! :-)

No brilliant ideas yet for the scrabble tiles, but give me some time and I'll figure it out.

Thanks so much for the visit! :-)

    1. Yep, I think the painting is going to hit the GW or the trash...

I am loving the frame. I'm excited about that almost as much as the furniture piece!
